medical plan coverage

medical plan coverage
Who knows about medical insurance coverage? What plan is better?

I don’t know squat about this, and I need help!

We need to choose a new plan, and there are two that apply.

A no deductible, $20 office visit copay plan, or a $3000 (family) straight 80/20 plan, with my employer funding an account to pay 75% of the deductible. The no deductible plan is $50 more per month than the deductible plan.

I almost never see the doctor…my wife does occasionally, but she takes our three kids often (too often – she’s a worrier!)

I’m leaning towards the no deductible…

If any family member makes frequent doctor visits, the no deductible plan may be the better deal despite the additional $50 out of your pay. I think you’d end up paying more each year with the 80/20 even with the employer funding. But before you make a decision that is binding until the next enrollment period, sit down with a Benefits representative and review the pros and cons of both plans.
