choice medical plan

Does it matter that I smoke cigarettes on the medical pre-screen for the Coast Guard?
Im filling out the medical pre-screen for the USCG and am at the question about smoking. I smoke about a half a pack of cigarettes a day right now but do plan, because I have no choice, to quit when I go to basic training. So im wondering…do I say yes and tell them how much I smoke or do I say no due to the fact that Im going to quit?
Tell them the truth. When you go for your physical, the fact that you’ve smoked will show up in the results of your tests. If you told them you don’t smoke it will appear as an abnormality, and they might not take you.
